Recipe: Raw Oreos (Vegan+Gf)


Hi everyone!

So Summer is ending, which makes me really sad, because it only reminds me that school is already at the corner. And that no longer there will be beautiful sunny days :(. But let's forget about this and enjoy every last moment!



Since it's still very hot where I live (literally 30 degrees as I'm writing this) I tried to make something that doesn't require an oven. Because let's be real, no one wants to bake anything when it's boiling outside. So I was looking through some recipes and came across healthy vegan oreos (the real ones alone are vegan, but full of trans fats and unhealthy refined sugar). But again, I wasn't in the mood for baking. Then how about raw version of such classic? The answer is: yes!



Very rich, chocolatey, gooey goodness, surprisingly similar in flavour with a subtle taste of coconut. And of course full of good fats, fibre and just simply as healthy as they can be. When you try them, you will never come back to the original Oreos!




Ingredients (makes about 15 oreos):




  • 1 cup gf oats
  • 2 cups pitted dates, soaked at least 30 minutes
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup cashews, soaked at least 4h
  • 2 tbsp maple syrop, date syrop or honey
  • 4 tbsp coconut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract



  • 1. First in a blender or food processor blend oats for a moment, then add in dates, cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Blend everything together until it forms a ball.
    2. Roll the dough on a baking parchment (3-4 mm thick). Use a circular cookie cutter and cut out the cookies. place them on a plate and place to a freezer for 15 minutes.
    3. For the cashew filling: blend everything together until smooth.
    5. Remove cookies from the freezer. Spread about a 1 1/2 teaspoon on each cookie and form sandwiches. Put them back into the freezer to set. Store in the fridge.
